Diane Bywaters August 9 - 20, 2010 a two-week Landscape Painting course at UWSP Art 335: Landscape and the Environment Register through UWSP Ann Singsaas Intro to Drawing: How to Draw what You See April 24-25 at Treehaven No experience necessary! If you have never progressed beyond your childhood level of drawing skill but would like to learn to draw more realistically this is the class for you. Taught using the methods of Betty Edwards, author of Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain, these lessons are designed to help you overcome the obstacles most people face in getting an image from their eyes to the page. Your instructor will take you through some of the exercised in the book and help you develop your drawing and observation skills through demonstration and personal attention. Students provide a spiral bound sketch book (at least 8”x11”), pencil and eraser. Weekend Workshops meets Sat. at 9:00 p.m. - Sunday 4:00 p.m. Weekend Package - $125.00 (Includes all meals & lodging-2/room). Commuter Package - $77.00 Includes lunch both days Nature Sketching / Plant Identification May 15-16 at Treehaven Whether you are interested in beginning botanical illustration, just want to start a nature journal, or would like to know more about the plant species around you, this class will offer the opportunity to spend time identifying and sketching wildflowers and other plants up close. While this class is not a substitute for a full taxonomy curriculum, it is a great place to get to know some of Northern Wisconsin’s vegetation. Lots of time will be spent outdoors and student should be prepared to walk some of Treehaven’s many trails. We will utilize a spiral bound artist’s notebook, pencil or ink, and a small watercolor kit or colored pencils to take visual notes and capture whatever is in bloom. All styles of drawing welcome; for those with some previous drawing experience or instruction. Students provide their own supplies.(click here for a packing list) A limited amount of paints, paper, spiral notebooks, brushes etc will be available for purchase.
